Who requires a Valentines Day to celebrate LOVE? Isn’t celebrating love only for a day in a year a big misery, when the heart is ready to overflow with emotions and wishes to express feelings through minute moments of life?
What a strange emotion this is which can create ripples in the silent ocean of heart until the resonance reaches another shore to make the person realize! We have heard stories of classic and unique love since childhood, whether in our folk tales , about Laila Majnu, Heer Ranjha, Sohni Mahiwal or in classic epical literature depicting stories of Romeo and Juliet or even the divine connection of Shams and Rumi , to the ethereal love of Radha and Krishna. Every story expresses a facet of this beautiful emotion, the power of love.
Rising above the materialistic pleasures to walk beside you I yearned through dense forests or deserts where feet burnt Oh ! I wished nothing but your presence in my heart For ages I breathed your name Come! Hold my hand for rest of the sojourn. -Soumya
While love is invisible and cannot be seen, it is as vital as the air that we breathe! It is the most purest expression of a human or any living being. Even the animals have a way of expressing their love and affection towards their owners or other animals. The one bond that holds universally same for all in this world is love.
It is love that can make us rise above the mean mindedness, the shallowness of our being and the discrimination of one human from another. It is this force which can wipe the strongest hatred and negative feeling into something very beautiful and pure.
The famous greatest poet Pablo Neruda who wrote in Spanish said,
” When I die I want your hands on my eyes:
I want the light and the wheat of your beloved hands
to pass their freshness over me one more time
to feel the smoothness that changed my destiny. I want you to live while I wait for you, asleep,
I want for your ears to go on hearing the wind,
for you to smell the sea that we loved together
and for you to go on walking the sand where we walked”

And this exquisite and selfless feeling of love is well expressed by many artists in their own ways, sometimes through writings, sometimes through their own expressions and form of art. Dancers, musicians, painters, writers, sculptors all have since time immemorial tried to leverage the word of love in their art. Whether through religion or through scriptures, every path that speaks of god and the supreme force speaks of love as the universal factor and step of moving towards transcendence.
Being human is what is the most important aspect of life and spreading the fragrance of love in family, amongst friends, in society , between people, in nations is the only way towards a peaceful society.
While this universal love is often spoken about, love in hearts of the young and old , that rules the day of Valentine and so rules the king of flowers, ROSE as the mighty being.
Let us celebrate and end the day with the famous song of Stevie Wonder that echoes in every heart till today:
“I just called to say I love you”..
